Endoscope Nerve Thesis MS

Published 2002

Limited advancements in surgical techniques for peripheral nerve problems have been observed over the past three decades, with only a few endoscopic procedures explored. Dr Ralph Mobbs' Master of Surgery Thesis aims to investigate the feasibility of using standard hospital equipment and subcutaneous fascial dissection principles to address a select range of peripheral nerve problems through endoscopy. The study, conducted on embalmed and fresh cadavers, establishes rules for determining the viability of nerve exposure, focusing on expandable and safe planes. The objective is to assess the potential role of peripheral nerve endoscopy in addressing these issues, particularly for surgeons committed to its practice and patients seeking a minimally invasive approach.
